Naomi Shenkar, Adv.

Naomi is CEO and owner of Legal Translations Ltd., which she founded in 1996, gradually putting together over two decades a team of similarly qualified and like-minded translators to provide oral and written legal translation services of the highest quality.

Born in England, Naomi was raised in a fully bilingual environment in Israel, where she completed her schooling and attained her academic degree.

When she graduated from the Law Faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with an LL.B. (1995), Naomi had already accrued legal experience as Assistant to a Public Prosecutor in the Criminal Department of the State Attorney’s Office in Jerusalem. In this capacity, she prepared appellate and other cases heard at the Supreme Court of Israel (1992-1995).

Next, she completed her internship with Alon Kaplan International Law Firm in Tel Aviv (1995-1996), with legal writing and translation playing a key role during the period. In this vein, she assisted Adv. Kaplan in writing the Israel chapter in Offshore Trusts (Kluwer 1995), and participated in writing the chapter on “The Making of the Israeli Constitution” (Israeli Business Law, An Essential Guide, Kluwer, 1996).

Naomi was admitted to the Israel Bar in 1996. She had however already realized that her future lay in legal translation.

Simultaneously with her law studies, Naomi studied Japanese at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and then went on to study for a B.A. in Translation Studies and Philosophy of Science at Tel Aviv University (1997).

Soon thereafter, Naomi moved to New York (1998-2003), where she continued managing her translation business.

Naomi has built an impressive client list for Legal Translations Ltd. She is proud to count many of Israel’s upper echelon law firms, banks, accounting firms, real estate companies, energy and drilling companies, investment houses, hi-tech companies, business and manufacturing corporations, and not-for-profit organizations among them.

A great source of pride for Naomi is that her clients and her translation team share the understanding that professional translation is a craft that demands great skill.
